Yellow flower tree blooms

The photo is a bit chaotic and uninspired...very much like life at the moment. Not wishing to whine too much but I have a head cold. It could have been given to me by any number of family member or work colleagues but it is not so fun. I slept a bit late to see if that would help but alas...

Yes, the elections [or 'erections' depending on which ethnic group you come from in this country and how severe your mother tongue plays out in your spoken English].

The votes are being re-counted. We are finding similar results with Kenyatta coming out on top. One of the other rival parties at some point today said that they had evidence the results were doctored and the counting should stop. Well, that is just not the thing to say in such delicate periods of an election. Later the party agreed that the counting should continue. We anticipate by later tonight or first thing tomorrow morning, there should be a clear winner and an official announcement. And then we will see if there is violence or not.

We are very pleased in the delayed announcement of the winner. It gives people time to cool down. Sure, there is plenty of speculation and tension and uncertainty but there is peace. Sadly, there is not too much productivity in Kenya at the moment with many lamenting that business is bad but this will change soon.

And so I will go home tonight, nurse my head and throat, play games with my kids and sit by the television for a third night and 'watch the boating' as my daughter calls it. She cannot believe that we can watch TV for hours on end as people read out names and numbers..

Continue to pray...more tomorrow!

Oh...and the flowers. These are found on the tops of trees this time of year and it is magic! The trees are found throughout the region and when they bloom like this you get huge patches of brilliant yellow which light the sky. I saw rows and rows of them in Tanzania recently but cannot figure out how to capture them with the camera. These are found in my back yard (favourite haunts for them bloomin' monkeys).
