Drama at Govetts Leap

Mauzee and I had been for our walk along the Fairfax Track late this afternoon and decided to drive down to the lookout at Govetts Leap before we headed home.  To our astonishment the car park was full of Police Rescue Vehicles and ambulances.  Within seconds a helicopter came in view and after doing a circuit proceeded to come in so low and close to the escarpment below that it was travelling at times below the tree line.  We watched in awe as the pilot navigated his way around the cliffs, obviously searching for someone.
We discovered tonight that apparently (yet to be confirmed) some daredevil had launched themselves off the top of the Bridal Veil Falls with a parachute attached but become stuck.  As you can see from my main image and the extras, the light was failing rapidly and as we walked away the helicopter headed back eastwards.  It had obviously become too dangerous for them to continue.
In situations like this so many people's lives are put in danger.  I can't imagine what skill it would take to fly a helicopter in those conditions.  All I can say is that it's going to be a very VERY COLD night for the person who jumped off that waterfall.  Perhaps we will hear more tomorrow!
I have linked back to Mauzee's journal tonight and you will see some very serious faced members of the rescue team.
