O gato do mar

The cat of the sea.

We went to the Merchant Navy memorial on the Shore to have a wee moment remembering our friend and blipper Ogatodomar who passed away a week ago today. Before ever he was a musician, instrument maker, potter etc, he spent 5 years in the Merchant Navy. We did it in the morning before D had to catch his train back to Hull, although Ogatodomar's friends were saying goodbye to him this afternoon at a small, socially distanced, event at a chapel in the Rue Haute in Brussels. His cousin in Orkney is still trying to manage the very tricky logistics of getting him conveyed to Stromness to be buried amongst his grandparents as he wished.

It was nice of fellow-blippers alfthomas and Arclight to join us, constituting a mini-blipmeet (remember them?). Mel came down with the wee dug and kindly took the photo for my blip (necessitating Arclight holding the wee dug).

I went up to the station for the bus ride with DaveH and on walking back down Leith St to find a diverted bus, witnessed the temporary crane mid-dismantle. I've put it as an extra for all the crane nerds to enjoy!
