Holker Hall

The gardens at Holker Hall are now open and we visited this morning and enjoyed the spring flowers and extensive grounds.  It was very cold, though, and we have even had snow flurries this lunchtime and I can see snow on the Lancashire hills across the Bay.

Holker Hall dates back to the early 1600s and has been home to the Preston, Lowther and Cavendish families.This photo shows the Cascade and Burlington Fountain (sadly not powered today).
