Allendale House

Allendale House is at 50 Ponsonby Road. It was built in 1892 as a townhouse for saddler, George Allen. For the next ten years the house was let out to various tenants until it was sold in 1902.

Over the years, Allendale has been a private hospital, doctors' rooms, boarding house, hostel for Maori girls and a refuge for alcoholics ...

Since 1989 the property has been home to the Auckland Savings Bank Community Trust. The Bank purchased Nø 52, and over the last year or two have been building the modern offices adjacent to Allendale House and connected by a walkway at the upper level.

Now that the offices are completed, work is well underway on renovating the old house.
