Seeing Beyond Looking

When babies grow up!

Where do all the years go?
Parents and grandparents tend to say this at birthdays!

This collage represents my grandson's 18th Birthday which we celebrated yesterday: I made a very special lunch: Chicken Cordon Bleu (stuffed with Parma Ham, and cheese), Gratin Dauphinois (sliced potatoes cooked in cream with grated cheese and oven-baked) and roasted honey-flavoured carrots. We had Apple Crumble for dessert which is my grandson's favourite!

My daughter arrived at tea-time with the special birthday cake!

I ordered a symbolic French-style ornate key to represent the 'coming of age' at 18. It used to be 21 years' of age. Remember?!

My grandson doesn't like photos of himself, where he can be recognized, put onto social media, so I've just put a small photo of him looking down! He's going through a stage of growing his hair! I am pleased to note that it's always clean and shiny!

I've so enjoyed watching him grow up and have him to stay as often as possible, reading him stories, teaching him English, answering questions that he felt at ease asking me and replying to them with straightforward honesty.   May he find his way in this life and face his various experiences with optimism and fortitude.
