Civil war
Today we toured two houses in nearby Franklin, Carter house and Carnton house.
The former was a site of a fierce battle that left thousands of men dead, injured or captured. The latter was made into a field hospital to treat the injured and dying men. There were still bloodstains on the floor where amputations had been performed in the children’s bedroom. Very sobering and sad. The blip is of a building at Carter house riddled with bullet holes from the battle.
