Excitement!

Well , it really is spring! besides the fact that the leaves are already coming out on the crab apple -it had a thrasher sitting under it! I think it was looking for seeds (see extra) . Not that the grackles and redwings leave much. But I am so looking forwards to hearing him calling- they double their calls and are mimics in the same  family as mockingbirds. But unlike mockers which have  a really liquid beautiful voice ,these guys are a little less musical , but not as rough as their other cousins the catbirds. I always try to figure out which birds it is mimicking .Sometimes they are hilarious (whip poorwill , whip poorwill.)
