10.6.1921 - 9.4.2021

A sad day - not a surprise, but still a shock, when the BBC suddenly fell silent at 12.10 then the sombre announcement that Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh had died, followed by the National Anthem. He was just two months away from his 100th birthday. 
He and the Queen had been married for over 73 years
I had a flashback to 6th February 1952 when, at school aged 11, we heard a similar announcement, instead of our expected educational radio broadcast, that the King had died.
