That lucky old Sun

After an unusually wet end to Summer, Autumn has finally arrived. Temperatures have settled down to mid twenties, and daylight saving has ended.

Not that Queensland does daylight saving. That’s a State decision in the Land Of Oz. The majority of states do it, but not Qld or WA. Queenslanders are convinced that an extra hour of daylight will fade the curtains and confuse the cattle. So in summer there’s a one hour difference between Queensland towns North of the border and New South Wales towns South of the border. The cattle are ok, but businesses get quite confused.

The thing I like about Autumn is the sun starts sleeping in a bit more each day. Sunrise is about 6am at the moment. Most of our household seems to wake about 5, but no one gets up until it starts to get light.

First thing I go out to check the trees in the peeing park and we usually nip down the beach to make sure that once the sun is up all the crabs are back in their holes. Then it’s home for breakfast.

After brecky I normally settle in for a post breakfast nap. There’s nothing else for me to do while the folk get their coffee and stuff.

The jobs come thick and fast after that. Exercising the folk, guarding the van at the shops, balcony security.... its endless!

But not the Sun!
Once he’s up, he’s up and cruising all day. Good job though. It’s nice and quiet in space they say.

Hang on, I feel a song coming on.....

....’that lucky old sun, ain’t got nuttin to do, but roll around heaven all day’.
