Up The Gill

M had a rough night with toothache so phoned the dentist for an appointment ( unlike our GP surgery he got an appointment today) So "a run out".. a whole 10 miles to Ulverston today.

We had a walk round AH grounds first as its en route and it was time for Fletch's walk. There were signs of activity as the hotel made preparations for people to come and eat Al Fresco from Monday .A huge gazebo/ marquee has been put up adjacent to the main building as well as the other area already set up. There are lots of tables and chairs spaced out on the terrace and they were hanging up fairy lights.
Let's hope the weather is kind.
Actually, today wasnt too bad, especially after yesterday. It was sunny and it didnt feel cold, despite the thermometer only saying 8 degrees.

I dropped off M at the dentist and Fletch had his second walk . Ulverston is older than Barrow and has quaint areas of cobbled streets and narrow alley ways ( ginnels?) with names like Leather Lane. We followed the path out of town up The Gill. Quite a bit of regeneration is going on as they have removed any plant that isnt "native" ( a shame that they removed the cherry trees) I then noticed there was a second path, higher and parallel to the main path so we followed that on the way back. There quite a few people with dogs but not too many to be a nuisance. It was very pleasant walking in the warm sunshine.

Met up with M  who is hopeful that his tooth will be ok. We drove back along the Coast Road Just about every parking space was taken. The sun had brought everyone out. The queue at the icecream van was at least 100 foot long! Of course its busy because a) its sunny b) it's the Easter holidays and c) everyone has been forced to stay near home. In fact, as we left Barrow there was a huge sign saying Minimise Travel. I was pleased to see that 'our' usual parking place was empty. I shall not reveal where.

Sad to see Prince Philp has died just short of his 100th birthday.

Thank you everyone for your comments and stars xx
