What struck my fancy

Another visit to North Elmham and its former train station County School in mid-Norfolk UK.

Historical Notes:
The station opened in 1886 and was closed in the early 1980s, the name derives from a nearby private school for boys (fees 40 guineas per annum) which it was built to serve. The school had opened in 1874 and falling pupil numbers culminated in its closure in 1895. Contributing to the decline were the attempts by boys to escape, some dying after clinging to the underside of trains and are buried in a nearby cemetery.

The locomotive is named after a Norfolk village, pronounced windam.
