Dipper #38

After last weeks epic fail to see dippers and mandarins, we thought we'd brave the cold and try again this morning.
Within metres of the carpark we saw a Grey Wagtail, a Tree creeper(extra) and a dipper whilst crossing the bridge. A great start to the day.
Across Big Lodge, there were numerous hirundines - swallows, sand martins and house martins I think. It was a bit chilly and windy for standing around attempting to take photos, but I did try, which is how I know that there was at least one house martin along with the swallows and sand martins. So that was 5 new birds for the day - we were on a roll.
We walked up to the weir and we lucky again with the dippers - there were a pair who were bobbing around happily for a few minutes. I was in dipper heaven but struggled a lot with the lighting and focus against the water.
It was a lovely few hours, but we were glad to get home to the warm as it was very chilly out there and the wind really got up later in the day.
