Little House in the Woods

Today, for the first time since last summer, I ended up doing the circular walk on the outskirts of the village that takes me along the river and past this little cottage. 

Like the last time I passed, it was all shuttered and bolted and padlocked, as if nobody had been staying there for a while, which is a shame. I'm sure it's an ideal retreat - no neighbours, peaceful rural setting - but you would need a 4x4 (or a tank!) to cope with the extremely rough drive down to reach it. 

A flurry of tiny little hailstones as I neared home, but an otherwise beautiful, cold day.
