halo halo - what's all this?

Although we've been in the house just over a year now, the early morning light still manages to throw up a few surprises.  

It took a while to figure it out.  The sunlight is streaming through an upstairs window and bouncing off a glass bowl at the foot of the stairs.  It was gone in a matter of minutes.
