Shadow play

Another nice, sunny day, though a bit chilly. A bit more work in the garden, after a nice surprise when I opened the door. There in the porch was a very attractive box, inside which were three bottles of wine, with two contact phone numbers on a note tucked in. This was from Mary, the daughter of my unattached (as in not semi-detached) neighbour who died a few years ago. the house has been vacant since, and there's been no sign of its being out up for sale.

Last year another of the children moved in temporarily with his wife and young family and stayed a few months while their own house had construction work done on it. We got off to a bit of a rocky start in terms of using the shared driveway, but eventually sorted things out amicably. Mary turned up a few days ago and told me she and her family would be doing the same thing for the next seven or eight weeks. She is anxious to limit tension and disruption for me, we had an amicable chat a couple of days ago and the wine is intended as a peace offering in advance, with the phone numbers provided in case they ever need to be contacted. A very nice thought, much appreciated.
