Easter Sunday

It felt fresh this morning but is soon warmed up and was a beautiful day. I heard a weather report that said it was going to reach 18C in some areas of the south east today, but tomorrow they were expecting 15 inches of snow in parts of Scotland - crazy weather at the moment!

We had a walk with Xena in the woods this morning and again, it was so quiet - usually on a bank holiday weekend in great weather it is so busy but I suspect people have gone away (not allowed) or are visiting family and friends in gardens (allowed).

I was so pleased that Adam and his girlfriend Pip were with us for Easter Sunday lunch. After the walk, with the help of Gavin I managed to stuff and roll the shoulder of lamb, tie it up and then get on with the rest of the meal. It was delicious and thank goodness today was such good weather to be able to be outdoors. A photo of Adam and Pip, Adam is not enjoying his lockdown hair and he cannot wait to get it cut again.

After lunch we watched the Oxford/Cambridge boat race, which was held on the River Ouse near Ely this year so that they could ensure no crowds were present. It was also held on this stretch of the river in 1944 during the Second World War. As the river is so narrow in parts it made for a thrilling race as the two boats were so close at times that their oars were nearly touching. Tommy knew two of the people in the Cambridge team which is surprising as usually the teams are made up of older foreign students (usually very athletic Americans) who come to the universities and do any master course they can get in to with the main intention of rowing in this race. A great result in that Cambridge won both the women's' and the men's' races (we obviously were supporting Cambridge)

An extra of Adam and the very large Easter egg Gavin got from his golf club - it was for a charity donation so all for a good cause.
