Wednesday Crew

Just round the corner from our office on the Cuerden Valley Park is the Victorian Walled garden that was associated with Cuerden Hall, former country seat of the Townley-Parkers a noble and distinguished Lancashire family.

The walled garden ,was, a few years ago, turned back into a fruiting orchard as it was in the 1800's with help from a grant from Heritage Lottery Fund .

However the cash ran out and they couldn't afford to replace the paths of the green oak pergola. That's where I come in as charity I manage have granted them £10,000 to finsh the job. To keep it within budget the park is using it's band of volunteers to do the job. It will be a slow job as they only turn out every Wednesday. I have offered my help when I am less busy. I believe that it is good to get involved with projects we support as builds up a relationship especially as we are a local funding charity.

I want to get my hands on the green oak woodworking part of the scheme and there is scope to develop a herbaceiuos border as well.
