The colours of bark

I didn't plan to go out and take photos of bark, but that's what drew me in today. This was just one of several different trees that I couldn't walk past without taking photos of. They were all beautiful or fascinating in their different ways.

I think this particular thick, sturdy trunk has really lovely variations of green on it. It's like it's surface has been subtly painted, and I guess the crusty, bumpy texture just adds to the effect.

I was feeling quite upset and pained this afternoon, but looking at/engaging with all the trees I came across this afternoon was kind of therapeutic, I'm glad to say. I'll put in some of the others in my extras for now.
