Flower Friday: Good Friday
We've been home all day today. Being Good Friday, it's always a quiet day. (A little aside - I started blipping on Good Friday in 2012). Church was online again and being the first Friday of the month, we had communion. It does feel strange doing these things on your own in your home, but it is better than nothing.
Yesterday, G spent several hours writing a meditation for our Salvation Army WhatsApp group. We were able to share it with SweetArt as well. It was so good to have a VoIP video call with her. I know it is something that millions of people the world over don't even think about, but here in the UAE, VoIP apps have been banned for the longest time. Thanks to COVID, a few are now allowed to enable working and studying from home. Kaizala is looking like a real alternative when we have to come off WhatsApp.
The most unusual thing today was having a Zoom call with our outgoing SA Captain. He wanted to introduce a few key people to the interim officers who are retired Colonels from New Zealand! It's such a long way to come from for just a few months! I wonder when we will be able to meet them in person rather than online.
G always likes to watch the movie "The Robe" on Good Friday, so we did that after lunch. I have to say, more things register each time I watch it. It's a nice little tradition. The day ended with G cooking a delicious dal and rice. She didn't have cucumber for the raita so used capsicum instead. What a fantastic thing to discover. It added such a real depth to the flavour. I think she is on to something! :))
GK over and out. Happy Easter weekend everyone!
