Teatime
Another planned very enjoyable lazy day so far, also benefitting my over exercised shoulder. Our newish and much used electric soupmaker provided chorizo & chick pea soup for lunch (assisted by Mrs M).
Yesterday I volunteered to provide "technical" support for the Footsteps Festival zoom meetings as required. In essence setting up the meetings so that all attendees can access them and helping with any basic user enquiries. Myself and a few others couldn't gain access to a recent meeting which we were registered for. Objective evidence that my energy levels are improving (I hope!).
History
Hill House, now fancy apartments, it was the former boarding house for the Minster Grammar school, as it was called then. Prior to that it was the home of Rev John Thomas Becher, English clergyman, social reformer and Vicar-General of Southwell Minster from 1818-1840.
I suspect his social reform aligned with the ethos behind the local workhouse (the only remaining fully preserved one in England). Women and men (including married couples) were segregated into two separate halves of the building and where even the enclosed outdoor area was divided by a high wall. "The poor must suffer what they must.."
