Testing The Waters

These domestic geese seemed to be testing the icy waters wondering what their wild brethren see in it. The rivers here are slow to thaw this year but I'm starting to see a bit more open water. Just a few hundred yards/meters upstream a family of otters were cavorting - not close enough for pictures however. Now if I just had a longer lens .....
