Meet 'Mags!

By far my favorite bird: the Australian Magpie.

Sure there are more extravagantly coloured birds but these birds have style, grace, street smarts. Very self assured without a need for flamboyance.
They don't mind a chat, even a song. They have adapted so well to town living yet don't need us to survive. They live where they live; suburb, city or country because they want to.
I know some folk don't like them, some have been dived apon, and these birds can if they wish do damage. That big strong beak isn't just for show.

I have never been swooped on. My dog has, but as I stand by and watch I can see both bird and dog are having fun. A teasing sort of chassy game. The bird never comes close to contact.

Magpies can recognise individuals.
Whenever possible I say hello them, stay a moment or 2. They all have the same name; 'Mags'or 'Magsy'. Besides being enjoyable I believe this interaction goes a long way in attack prevention.
