Surprise!
Not often you see these guys in Yorkshire. The first one, I clocked as a buzzard. It was not.
I registered this closer one as a cross between a buzzard and a heron, which made my brain pause to consider the possibilities of that. Lucky, because I'd left my phone in the van where my sister was recording her excited message that two had just flown past the lighthouse and I might spot them over my right shoulder. This is over my right shoulder!
(From the Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation, I received info that this isn't an Isle of Wight released bird but likely a bird from the continent or from Scotland. And they added 'Amazingly, it seems there may have been two different birds on the north-east coast at this time.')
