One of the advantages of working from home for part of the week is you get the opportunity to revisit the vinyl collection as an aid to thinking....
It also provides a photo opportunity....
Anyway.... Nigel Mazlyn Jones. “Ship To Shore”....released in 1976. Bought and seen @ Bude Town Hall when he supported John Renbourn...
...and obviously the jauntily placed ‘Smash it up’ sticker pays homage to the Damned whilst acknowledging that NMJ and his ilk would be challenged by the emergent punk ethos... but here I am, some 45 years later...still listening...
...and there is (maybe) a deep symbolism in the reading materials behind. Archly random, yet somehow compellingly weaving a common thread...
Like any photograph, the question as to whether this constitutes a decisive moment...
Even stationary objects when photographed are but a moment in time, never to be repeated with exactitude. Dust falls, colour fades, the leaves of a book turn brown...
