Wait!

I work with Fletcher each day, training him to be patient and yet responsive to my command, not easy for a dog so fixated on food. I use the command 'settle' which means for Fletcher to 'Lie Down'. Then I place a treat, in this case his usual kibble, on each of his paws and give him the command to 'Wait'. He'll lie there, drooling and staring at the treats until I tell him 'OK' and he then quickly inhales the treat. I'm not sure how long he might remain in that position and I haven't tested it since I don't want to push his 'limits' and give him a negative experience. I think that our Big White Boy might have made a good search and rescue or illegal substance search dog. Such a Good Dog!
