The Acme Thunderer

I was chuffed to come across this whistle in one of the draws while tidying up yesterday.  I know it is at least 60 years old as it belonged to my Dad who refereed football matches after his playing days had ended in the 1950s.  

The whistle is a classic, designed by J Hudson & Co of Birmingham in 1884.  They are still made today and describe the whistle as follows:

"Where it all started the World's first sports whistle, used by every generation since 1884 and still appearing in World sport finals every year"


To me it is just a reminder of family departed.  Dad loved his sport and it is lovely to have this to remember him by.
