Autumn approaches and the circus canadiensis leaves are beginning to fall.
Dr D ran the tip truck along under our large scarlet oaks that stand about 3 metres inside one of our boundary hedges that is due for a visit from the hedge-cutting contractor. A number of  branches were drooping into the top of the hedge and we thought they might compromise the access of the contractor. We have a "chainsaw on a pole"(amongst others)and Dr D trimmed the trees from the deck of the truck and stacked the deck as he went before roping the load on and taking it to the green waste dump.
I told him 25 years ago , when we married, " You've got to have the gear for a big garden." He almost included a clause in the contract that he wouldn't pull weeds , but put an engine on it and he'll be right there!
