Have Camera Will Travel

Anyone for toad in the hole

As a reward for all his hard work I decided to take Mr PC on a picnic. The good thing about him being on emergency school run we have to get up earlier, so while he was away I got the food ready.

We set off just after breakfast and headed out to Cloughton where we parked up and walked along the cinder track ( the old Scarborough to Whitby rail track) towards Hayburn Wyke. Along the way we were treated to the sounds of the birds and we spotted this little Robin singing his heart out. Primroses and wood anemones were growing abundantly on the banks.

We walked for about an hour and arrived at the Hayburn Wyke Inn ( sadly closed due to lockdown) we then followed a path across a field and entered the National Trust woodland where we  picked up the Cleveland way trail which took us down to a lovely cove with a stunning waterfall (see extra).

We stayed awhile just admiring the view and I couldn’t resist snapping this mother and daughter sitting on the rocks.

We returned the way we came and were  taken by surprise at the toads on the move.

It was now time for lunch so we found a bench overlooking the sea - an ideal spot for our picnic which we enjoyed sitting in the sunshine.

We returned home tired and weary but we did enjoy our trip out.
