A Beautiful Day
It was a beautiful morning and I got a text from G first thing to see if I fancied another walk. We went to Kelling Heath about a mile outside Holt, the main photo is the view down over Weybourne which is our nearest village on the coast. I've also included an extra of some Blackthorn blossom, flowers on gorse, a red squirrel (part of a breeding programme being kept in a pen at Kelling Heath holiday village) and a closer view of the windmill at Weybourne. Thanks for the invite G.
Day 374 / Day 79 of Lockdown 3 / Day 18 of Step 1 of Roadmap out of Lockdown (for my record only)
UK deaths up 63 to 126,445 (revised basis), with 6,397 new cases, 5,122 patients in hospital, 683 on ventilation and 354 new admissions. Deaths in Brazil pass 300,000 and cases on mainland Europe are rising rapidly. 29m have now received their first dose of the vaccine and 2.8m have had their second dose. Denmark has extended the suspension of the AZ jab for 3 weeks. A joint statement between the UK and EU was released yesterday evening talking about co-operation and a reciprocally beneficial relationship on Covid-19. MP's have voted overwhelmingly to extend Covid emergency powers for another 6 months. NHS staff in Scotland are to get a 4% payrise. The Head of NHS England recommends reducing the alert level from 4 to 3. UK studies have shown that middle-aged women are 'worst affected by long-Covid and that 70% hadn't fully recovered 5 months after leaving hospital (men are more likely to die from Covid). As a result of 13,000 head office staff working more productively from home during the pandemic, Nationwide Building Society has decided not to renew their lease on 3 buildings in Swindon and have told staff they can 'work anywhere' in the UK. I worked for several years at Nationwide and drove so many unnecessary miles to head offices at Northampton and Swindon for meetings - good for staff and for the planet too! The UK's greenhouse gas emissions fell by 8.9% in 2020 due to restricted activity.
