Courtyard Garden
Spent much of the day looking at planting options for the courtyard garden entrance to our flats. We have some decent Box hedging which provides structure and makes a good foil for the other plants. There's half a dozen Witch Hazel which has spectacular red foliage in the autumn and little red flowers in the winter. And we have quite a few nice trees too. But the Hebes, Lavender and Geranium will all be coming out as they're past their best. I've been mulling a combination of Yuccas and Phormiums with Festuca Glauca and Ophiopogon Planiscapus. Maybe some silver Lamb's Ears for ground cover with bulbs planted under. Hydrangea Paniculata Little Lime is very striking. It'll be interesting to see what my neighbours come up with!
Yesterday there was a minute's silence at midday to mark one year since the first Covid lockdown.
