The dropped stitch

scarf number six

My scarf production has slowed down this month. Too much else going on.

It doesn't really matter. I will keep going. I am using my lovely box to hold the finished scarfs. I hope it will be full, and ready to send off towards the end of the year when the weather gets colder.

The Cumbria Way Homeless Scarf Challenge seems to go from strength to strength. It's a perfect example of a positive Lockdown story. The 'Challenge' has given many of us, (some of whom may be isolated and struggling), a project to get involved in. Communicating online, patterns are exchanged, photos of completed items are shared, proficient knitters and crocheters give word of advice and encouragement to beginners. Those with excess wool have shared with those running out of materials. And the original concept has mushroomed, with new groups being formed all the time. People with the time to do so have begun new challenges, knitting and crocheting a whole range of items for a myriad of different charities.

Though only involved on the fringes, I'm finding it heart-warming and fun.
