Chocolate fudge birthday cake

Since I am working on my birthday tomorrow (Wednesday), we enjoyed a 'birthday eve' celebration with Katharine and Jack today.

The festivities included a bird walk with a (failed) mission to see a dipper in the Water of Leith at Dean Village. Instead we spotted blackbird, blue tit, bullfinch, carrion crow, coal tit, great tit, grey wagtail, gulls (various), heron, house sparrow, mallard duck, moorhen, robin, and starling.

On return to our flat, we set up the table in the yarden and opened (probably too many) bottles of fizz and wine, and made a start on the birthday cake that Mr hazelh baked yesterday and iced this morning (blipped). It was a very jolly party, despite the cold and dark.

This morning I submitted the paper that I picked up again on 22nd January. Fingers crossed that the editor of Journal of Documentation and the referees like it, and that it will be accepted for publication in due course.

Exercise today: walking (~12,500 steps).
