Take care what you reach for

The jungle can be a dangerous place for the unwary. Spotted on my walk this morning, these palm trees are scattered throughout the jungle around Brunei and have been responsible for many visits to the local surgery for thorn removals. The black spikes go deep and break off and sometimes do not resurface for a few days/weeks.

Believed to be the Pejibaye Palm, definitely one to avoid.
