Stillness Speaks

Insanitize

Because my Dad passed years ago and my Mother did not have a living spouse, my brothers and I all had to sign forms saying  it was okay to cremate our mother. That was quick and easy for three of us. The forth could not figure out how to scan/photograph the signed form and get it back to the funeral home. First he snail mailed it then the funeral director took a verbal agreement from him over the phone two days later when the paperwork did not arrive. Either way, the deed is done. Our Mum has been reduce to ashes.

I got an email from the funeral home today saying that my Mom was in transit now and they gave me a USPS(United States Postal Service)  tracking number. Traveling in a pandemic. At long last she got out of her small nursing home room and is seeing America. Well - Rhode Island to Vermont at least.

Ironically she is scheduled to arrive on her birthday, March 24th. I kept the birthday card I had bought her (well she does not have a forwarding address, does she) and intend to put it on the box of ashes when it comes. Morbid I suppose but it will be her birthday none the less. As you can see the post loss dark humor has set in.

What do hand sanitizers have to do with this? Nothing. Just going for a good clean shot.
