Got chatting to a mountain biker on the hill as I was preparing to fly. He turned out to be the brother of a very well known hang glider pilot from the early days.
I took off with my vario still in its bag (I am a plonker) which was a big mistake as there were loads of weak thermals around which I had trouble centering in. As a result I was down sooner than I should have been.
