Ancient Trees
A walk alongside the Beech Avenue at Tatton,. A lot of the trees are ancient - the oldest approx 300 years old. Those that have fallen are left to decay, good for beetles and other invertebrates, and the wildlife that feeds on them.
The extra is a view of the park from one of the tank bridges (the concrete parapet visible at the bottom of the image is the only clue to what it was built for). The park was used for parachute training between 1940 and 1946, so it was effectively a military site, Apparently over 400,000 drops were made,. I guess out of that number some will have landed in the trees.
