Lynn Marie Delaney
September 29, 1949 - March 19, 2010
On this day 11 years ago, the world lost a bright light, our friend Lynn. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she just couldn’t fight any longer. She and my other three besties made up “the Posse” and we have so many wonderful memories together. She knew Kura and Peg much longer, starting when they were all young actresses/singers in New York City. This image dates back to those days and although I didn’t know here then, I’ve always loved this photo. It seems to capture her essence perfectly.
If you want to read a little more about her, you can look at my journal entry from last year on this day. HERE
Her sister, who took care of her in the final years, recently sent me a poem she’d written for Lynn. I thought it was beautiful and am going to share it here,
Missy
(not a name I gave her)
was a singer
who stopped singing
when too many friends died
what can I say?
AIDS in the 80's
worked
to raise cash
to stop the plague
Music never left her
Boxes of CD's
followed her home
friends'--and friends of friends
famous--and not
Music
vocal--instrumental
popular--obscure
She loved it all
She died too soon
I have her music
I play it often
I hear her singing.... - Karen Delaney
Cheers, Lynn. We miss you.

Ps: and she loved chocolate in all forms so feel free to celebrate her life with a bit of chocolate.
