Anchor at the slip
An afternoon working in Tankerness and Deerness.
At the end of Newark Bay, Deerness, there is a slip: a community facility, built by the local Small Boat Owners Association. There was no-one else there today, but on a sunny day this would be a lovely spot for a picnic, (benches provided), with a tempting walk down onto the beach and along the coast.
The anchor came from a ship wrecked off the nearby island of Copinsay in 1896. See extra for the full story.
