Renfrew Ferry

Parked the car at Sainsbury’s and walked by the Clyde as far as the Renfrew/ Yoker ferry. The weather improved quite dramatically with sunshine and relatively little wind, even beside the water it didn’t feel particularly cold, a contrast to my walk on the north side of the river at the weekend. I plan to return and walk to the Bascule Bridge which crosses the White Cart and the Black Cart rivers, I ran out of time this morning.
I was advised to avoid the area at the weekend when it’s thick with people and bikes – one bike and just a few folk today. The same chap provided an excellent account of the history of the ferry which until 1984 was operated by a submerged chain. I love these chance conversations with strangers.
The Ferry Inn was a location for the upcoming drama with Nicola Walker who plays the head of  marine homicide unit investigating unexplained murders on Scotland’s waterways.
