Gooey Rascals
Today is W’s birthday. We always try and do something different to celebrate it; last year we went to a 2 Michelin star restaurant and stayed overnight, and in previous years we have variously been to other Michelin starred restaurants, Cornwall, Devon (where we got stranded in the ‘Beast from the East’), Orkney, Paris and New York. Today we went to the Opticians in Fakenham and got rained on. With the lockdown in full swing there’s not much choice to do anything else so we have had a very pleasant lunch of crab and smoked crevettes from the local smokery, and later we will be recreating ‘afternoon tea’ with a rather nice selection of sandwiches and other savouries I’m about to make, Devonshire Splits that W made, served with jam and clotted cream, and these little beauties that we ordered from Bettys. There’s a bottle of something rather nice and fizzy waiting in the fridge too.
I think we’d better not eat again until next week.
