Amazing really
This is how the internet gets to our house, located out in rural Canada.
From my phone right now, it goes wirelessly to the router in the basement. Then it travels by thin wire outside to this tower and up to the small dish antenna at the top.
There is a radio transceiver in it that takes the signal and shoots it to another taller tower about 5 kms to the east of us. That tower receives and then sends the signal over top of us to town, about 35 kms to the west of us.
From there the signal is received and brought down to the grounds via cable and connected to the big pipe that is the Internet.
When the leaves come out they can block the signal. When an electrical storm blows through, it’s easy to blow out the whole sensitive system with a strike nearby.
And it does all that, back and forth, in milliseconds.
Amazing really.
