The artist's hands

Sue's sister-in-law wants Sue to paint a picture of the elk meadow below their house. We spent the whole day with Mark and Sandy at their house, sizing up the meadow, watching elk graze in the pouring rain, studying light and shadow, and worrying about one of the family who is having a shaky recovery from surgery and being treated by a husband who is accustomed to being served and not to rendering service. We talked about how hard it is, when you are accustomed to being the Giver, to become the Taker, and vice versa.
