Sunshine in Linn Park

The inertia of the last few days lifted and I spent the morning doing a circuit around Cathcart, Linn Park (blipped) and Newlands. It was warm enough to walk with my jacket unzipped and to enjoy a coffee (lukewarm, I need a new flask) in the sunshine. I followed the White Cart Water for most of the way and it felt like I was in another country, the Netherlands perhaps.
I spotted 2 kingfishers within 5 minutes of leaving home, confirming the nest is active. This was endorsed by chap who said there  had been a nest there for 23 years, apparently they winter in Auldhouse Park which accounts for their absence until recently.
No sightings in Linn Park. I probably should have stopped and stared a bit more, definitely a place to return to with a picnic lunch.
Back in time for the FM’s lockdown update. Interesting that imperceptibly the strategy appears to have reverted back to suppression rather than elimination. It all sounds rather optimistic, predicated on the escalation of the vaccine programme. Hopefully everything else, including new cases, will fall into place.
