The Doctors House and remains of old bridge.
This building stands on the southern bank of the Hawkesbury River at Windsor.
It was built in 1844 and from 1876 until 1992 was partially occupied by doctors, hence the name.
In 1867 the worst recorded flood since the beginning of European settlement occured when the river reportedly rose 63 feet at Windsor claiming 20 lives and causing catastrophic devastation. During that flood a man stepped off the upper balcony of the house directly into a waiting boat.
Below the house and in the foreground is the last set of piers belonging to the old bridge that will be removed while at the rear is a viewing platform under construction that is utilizing the very last set of piers.
