Can't see the wood for the bamboo

We went on a  circular walk this afternoon around Sanquhar Loch, passing by this bamboo that has taken over the edge of a wooded area and crowds out everything else.  It looks like its about 20ft high at the highest point and reminds me of digging out a patch of it when I was living in California - it was hard work to get out!  I guess it's not as bad as the other invasive species such as giant hogweed with its sap that burns or Japanese knotweed that both cover lots of areas in Moray.  There is a local charity which is trying to clear huge areas of giant hogweed near us.  My wife used to run the project and I helped out as a volunteer.
