Ladybird

It is probably the most photographed insect.  When tidying up the strawberry bed in the tunnel, I disturbed this one from its winter sleep and then attempted to photograph it with the macro lens; an incorrect use of a switch on the lens meant I didn't get the close-up that I had intended.  On sorting out my incompetence with the lens I returned to the tunnel to find that the ladybird had disappeared.  It looks as if it has eaten part of the leaf, but my understanding is that ladybirds only eat insects, particularly aphids.  The hibernation of ladybirds has fascinated me since I came across a group of them on a young oak tree in 2014, see extra
