Getting the sparkle back

Still going strong near Craiglockart Pond.

T and I did a variation of the Easter Craiglockart Hill walk which included a fairly chilly picnic by Craiglockart Pond (first of the year) and checking up on swan nest-building. The swan was creating piles of vegetation near the nest which were presumably then going to be moved to the nest - a two stage operation which we were quite impressed by. Otherwise there were the usual suspects at the pond - mallards, black headed gulls, coots, moorhens, a pair of Canada geese and a lone cygnet which we were surprised to see as we thought that the adult swans would have chased it away by now.

We came back over the hill again as our usual route was still blocked by a landslide and the alternative we did the last time involved a lot of road walking - and it also helped us to warm up a bit! We saw the building works taking place to convert Craighouse with its fancy domes and that has made me check out the website for the whole Craighouse development, included here if you're interested. My legs felt well-exercised afterwards - it's the biggest walk I've done this year.
