Misty Forest
What's the diameter of that nearest tree?
What are the chances of the Metropolitan Police Chief completing her 5 year term?
A couple of questions to mark this particular day, one because it is March 14 (3.14), pi day, and one because of events in London last night.
Starting with London, it seems strange to me that in all the other cities with vigils going on the police kept a low profile and everything went smoothly, but the Met couldn't manage that.
I hope the controversy about the policing doesn't take attention away from the reasons the vigil needed to take place - one particular murder and the violence against women in general. Jan has written very eloquently on this so I'll stop here and move on to my day.
Here it was a misty day (see extra) with temperatures high enough to slowly melt the snow from the tree, delivering a steady supply of drips, but not warm enough to melt away the snow on the ground. However, since I didn't leave the house yesterday I felt we had to go for a walk. In the end we took our soup and bread to Rose's and the three of us took one of Rose's regular walks, the 10,000 step one, as she named it. 10,606 steps later we were back at her house to eat our tea.
We chatted for a while, tried to decide if Greenland was part of Scandinavia (it's not, but we did find the USA has tried to buy it three times). While we chatted Rose constructed and baked some jam pastries and then we ate our dinner. As it got dark we headed home, because I had some potato and onion bread to bake.
It's just come out of the oven and looks and smells good.
The tree was 119cm in circumference. I'll leave you to figure out what the measured diameter was, to the nearest cm....
