Butterfly Porn

I saw two yellow admirals in my garden today, the first I've seen for two months. They looked strange among the scores of whites. This one settled on the giant puffball that's still on the rocks. I saw it from the kitchen window and rushed out with my camera. Its wings were folded and I waited at the ready for several minutes before it opened its wings prior to take-off.

We had sunshine for a couple of hours today. During that time the white butterflies were out in force. The air was alive with them, and their flickering shadows were all over the ground. I followed four of them fluttering close together. One landed on a rose leaf, spread its wings and turned its tail upwards, while the other three took turns!
